My most recent fully playable environment. Inspired by Ghost of Tsuchima, and old Shin Hanga prints. Scene is a combination of handmade assets, modeled in blender, and textured in Quixel Mixer. As well as Quixel Megascans. Making use of RVT blending on a fair few assts. I'm also using procedural foliage volumes for the forest outside the immediate viewing area. Lighting is a combination of baked, and dynamic. My workflow consisted of:
-Finding reference photos for the scenes realism as well as references for how I wanted the mood to be
-Drawing a scene layout or map in photoshop
-Blocking it out in UE4, constantly checking scale
-Modeling all assets
-Texturing all assets
-Sculpting and painting the terrain
-Set dressing in layers, big, medium, then small shapes
-Adding foliage
-Lighting and mood creation/postprocessing
-Rendering it out!
Overall it was a very fun environment to work on, got to work with a lot of new techniques I've been studying as of late. Being able to fully integrate them into my scene creation toolkit. Thank you for checking my environment out! Cheers!
